Safety Policy
YOUR safety on the job...
- Working Around the Truck
Be aware that the truck may be moved during the placement of concrete. Stay away from the truck.
Stay out of the driver's blind spots. Drivers cannot see directly behind their trucks. Do not park or
place objects behind the truck. Watch for low wires that that may become entangled in the truck.
- Positioning Of the Truck
Whenever possible, position the truck so that it is perpendicular (not parallel) to an excavated area.
Whenever possible, try to maintain a distance (truck away from excavation or trench) of 1 foot for each 1 foot in depth.
- Chutes
The driver is the only qualified person that should attach the chutes to the truck.
Do not walk or work beneath chutes. Chutes are heavy when empty. Loaded chutes are extremely
heavy. Serious injury or fatality may result should a chute break and collapse on a person working
below them.
Be aware that chutes move when working around them. Never attach additional chutes to the ones that are
provided. The extra weight of unsupported add-on chutes may cause the truck's chutes to collapse.
- Wet concrete
Wet cement and concrete can cause burning and drying of the skin.
Wash any skin exposed to wet cement or concrete with soap and water immediately.
Wear safety glasses when working with wet concrete.
- Harden concrete
Dust generated by grinding, sawing, drilling, breaking etc. can lead to potentially hazardous exposures to
workers and appropriate respiratory protection precautions should be taken. Workers should wear eye and
hearing protection as well.
Never drink the water that is supplied on the concrete truck!!!!
